Blogging is one of the best tools that a freelancer or small business can have in their arsenal. Aside from being a cost-effective way to build your business’ SEO, a blog is a great place for you to become more in tune to your audience. And like in real life, finding a way to create a personal connection is key. Enter, video content.Digital marketing firm Syndacast estimates that 74% of web traffic will be video by 2017 so adding video to your blog is a smart move. And if you aren’t comfortable on camera, don’t worry, there are plenty of types of video that convey personality without putting you front and center.

1. Draw it on a Whiteboard

Whiteboard animation videos have grown extremely popular in the last year or two, and that growth doesn’t seem to be slowing. These videos work great for explaining a complex product or problem, because they help your audience visualize it, broken down in a simple way. They’re also great for injecting humor, and telling a story.

2. Animate Your Story

Like Whiteboard videos, animated videos can tell a compelling story in fewer words than a blog post. They can display emotion and reaction in fun and engaging ways, so this type of video would be a great addition to your blog, whether you’re describing how your product can be useful, or even telling a humorous story about the hurdles of running your own business.

3. Get a Customer Testimony

Testimony videos work perfectly to validate your product, and build confidence in your audience. The unique thing about testimonials, is they can be done in a number of ways. The best way to decide would be to reach out to a former, or regular customer and ask them to share their experience with you. You can ask them to be on video, or use an audio or written response incorporated in a whiteboard video.

4. Be the Spokesperson for Your Brand

If you’re not camera shy, then there’s no better way for your customers to associate you with your business then to speak to them face-to-face. Not only will they feel closer to your brand because they’re meeting the person behind it, but they may feel more comfortable reaching out with questions, and even better, more comfortable reaching out to lend their support.
