Happy International Freelancer Day!

You’ve probably seen that many professions have their own day of recognition: Teachers. Bosses. Nurses. Pretty much every profession under the sun. But there’s never been an official global day to recognize and appreciate the freelance community. And with about 46.5% of the total global workforce (roughly 1.6 billion people around the world) being self-employed (according to the World Bank) we thought it was about time to change that. 

Today, October 19th, Fiverr is inaugurating a new holiday called “International Freelancer Day,” and we hope to celebrate this date on the calendar for years to come!

We have a variety of activities and celebrations today and this week, and we hope you’ll join in. Check out our official International Freelancer Day hub to see all that is going on, including:

  • “I freelance so that I can ______” Global Social Campaign: Show or tell us why you live the freelance lifestyle on social media, with the chance to win $100-1000 for your posts. Hurry, this is a one day contest!

  • Freelancer Wellness Grant Program: While freelancing comes with tons of perks, we know that there’s also some challenges. That’s why we’ve partnered with The Freelancers Union (a non-profit advocating for freelancers) to launch a microgrant program. Apply for the $500 microgrants by telling us how you’d use these funds for wellness related expenses.

  • Digital and In-Person Events: Celebrate with us IRL or online with our Community events occurring all over the world. Plus, we have a bunch of on-demand content with tips about how to optimize the freelance lifestyle.
