From the explosion of TikTok to the emergence of the metaverse, the digital landscape is growing and evolving like never before. Based on Fiverr’s most recent analysis of trending search data, three main themes emerged among businesses’ top priorities: (1) even with new social media platforms on the rise, Instagram & Facebook remain a priority for businesses (2) businesses are finding innovative digital channels to reach new customers, and (3) investment in mobile app development appears to be on the rise.
Most marketers would argue that a successful social media strategy is an integral tool to business success; in fact 90% of all marketers say social media marketing has increased their business' exposure. With TikTok steadily building its user base over the last two years, businesses have had to assess if the platform should play a bigger role in their social media strategy. However, the data in Fiverr’s latest index revealed a surprising trend: many businesses are still investing heavily in Meta's social platforms - Instagram and Facebook, despite the latest platform changes.
Beyond social media, businesses are also looking to broaden their portfolio of digital tools to reach new customers and provide access to their services in an increasingly mobile world. The data revealed a spike in searches for experts in affiliate marketing as well as newer tools like Teespring and Telegram, showing that businesses are eager to take advantage of established and emerging monetization tools online. As people resume their pre-pandemic routines and are once again on the move, there has also been a rise in the use of mobile apps: in 2021, there were 230 billion first-time mobile app downloads worldwide across Apple and Android devices. Trending searches for mobile app developers reveal that businesses are eager to give customers on-demand access to their services and products, and interact with them in real-time.
