Fiverr’s 2023 LGBTQ+ Pride celebration was anchored on one concept: authenticity.
The team’s focus heading into Pride month was to showcase how Fiverr champions LGBTQ+ freelancers and business owners on a daily basis, and to voice support and celebrate these community members without distracting from the very real challenges they face in the workplace.
Since traditional 9-5 workplaces can make it hard for LGBTQ+ employees to embrace their identities at work, many freelancers have expressed that Fiverr provides a space where they feel they can show up authentically, and choose to work with customers who embrace that. This feedback from our freelancers inspired our slogan for this year’s Pride celebration: #proudonfiverr.
To celebrate this year's Pride Month, Fiverr created both virtual and in-person activations that demonstrated the concept of showing up authentically both as an LGBTQ+ individual and in support as an ally. First, Fiverr encouraged community members to register for the NYC Pride March, while highlighting LGBTQ+ Fiverr employees and promoting many talented LGBTQ+ freelancers. Some of these freelancers were additionally featured on Fiverr’s Instagram.
In June 2023, Fiverr employees and freelancers came together to march in the NYC Pride March, one of the largest Pride celebrations in the world. The NYC Pride March was organized in 1970 to commemorate the Stonewall Uprising, and has been one of the most attended Pride celebrations for over 50 years. Fiverr marched in NYC Pride to honor and represent all of the individuals who feel empowered to show up as their full selves on the Fiverr platform.
