Freelancing is like a personal utopia for some. You get to make your own schedule, do creative work you’re passionate about, meet interesting people from all over the world, and work from anywhere! It doesn’t get any better than this, right?! Unfortunately for some, freelancing can have a dark side: isolation. Due to the nature of working nontraditional hours and spending most of your time behind a computer screen, freelancing can feel lonely at times. And while there are many ways to combat the loneliness and boredom that can come with working solo, one of the most mentioned and most common ways to connect with like-minded individuals is to socialize and network. This is one of the reasons Fiverr started community events: to bring people together to socialize, enhance their skill set, and grow their professional network. In the light of bringing Fiverr sellers and buyers together with these goals in mind, Fiverr is excited to announce a brand-new community in Washington, D.C.!

Washington, D.C. and the surrounding Maryland and Virginia area, known to locals as “the DMV”, is one of the most eclectic and exciting areas in the country. With politics, history, and many options to live and play, this area is ripe with reasons to freelance through Fiverr! Just imagine working while at one of the many cafes, parks, or historical libraries in the area. Can you imagine typing away communicating with a buyer in the Library of Congress where books from our Founding Fathers, perhaps the most famous freelancers of all time, lay? Or what about sitting on a bench by the tidal basin while you hum away at a Fiverr project. Even more, what about hanging out in your favorite neighborhood spot, or just relaxing at home in your home workspace finishing a Gig? That is exciting. Even more exciting, Fiverr is announcing its first Washington, D.C., community social mixer, which will bring together buyers and sellers from the DMV to meet, greet, and network on April 20th at Eighteenth Street Lounge from 7pm - 9pm. This is an opportunity to get out and meet like-minded people in a relaxed and fun atmosphere and kick off the D.C. Fiverr Community. By mixing sellers and buyers, you’ll be able to share common interests, ideas, get new perspectives, and forge new bonds that would not be possible online. This event is aimed for those who love Fiverr and want to help move the community and their experience on the platform forward. Whether you work on Fiverr full time or part time, buy once in awhile, or lean on Fiverr heavily for your business needs, we invite you to join us!Your event ambassadors Allie, aka alliemadison12, and Charles, aka Silberma1976, are both Fiverr sellers, and will be your event contact persons. Allie makes Fiverr her full-time work and is new to the DMV. Charles has lived in the DMV for over 10 years and is a full-time teacher and part-time Fiverr seller. They are both founding members of this new community and are excited to help buyers and sellers alike in the DMV grow in how they utilize Fiverr, as well as network to avoid that isolation that can come with being a freelancer. We look forward to seeing you at our initial D.C. social mixer and putting names and faces to Fiverr usernames!
