Just about everyone has seen or used an Amazon Echo device. Whether it’s hailing a ride or checking the weather, the possibilities are nearly endless with an Amazon Echo, and a big key to that potential lies within Alexa skills. Alexa is the cloud-based voice service for Alexa-enabled devices, and Alexa skills are capabilities that allow a customer to create a more personalized experience with their Amazon Echo, Amazon Fire TV, and other Alexa-enabled devices. Skills let customers receive flash briefings, order food, track their fitness and more.
It’s that limitless potential that has Amazon and Fiverr so excited to join forces as Amazon kicks off its newest Alexa Skills Challenge; one that builds on voice control and is focused on multimodal skills using the new design language called the Alexa Presentation Language (APL). APL enables developers to easily build custom skills that can be tailored for different Alexa-enabled devices with screens. Amazon Echo products like the Echo Show and the Echo Spot are designed with visuals in mind, sporting a screen for customers to interact with whether they’re using it for recipes, video calls or home security.
