Earlier this year, you may remember that we partnered with acclaimed Hollywood actor, writer, producer and director Eli Roth on our “Do With” series. Eli is the multi-hyphenated talent behind such films as Hostel, Cabin Fever, Inglourious Basterds, The House With A Clock In Its Walls, and the new film HAUNT, released on September 13th.

In addition to giving a Master Class in Los Angeles on his 20 years of experience in the filmmaking business, Eli also selected three lucky aspiring creatives who won the opportunity for an hour-long 1:1 session with Eli to discuss their creative projects.

In the spirit of sharing, we’d love to shine a spotlight on the winners of the contest and the insights they gleaned from their time chatting with Eli.

First up, Jorge Barros from Chile!

Tell us a little about yourself. Who you are, where you’re from, what you do, and a little more about (company/project).

My name is Jorge Barros and I’m from Chile. I’m an entrepreneur with a passion for innovation, making a positive impact in the world and turning creative ideas into great products. I focus my work only on projects that meet these three pillars. Three years ago I moved to Hong Kong in order to be closer to China and to the latest developments in technology and materials that will change the world in the coming years. My wife Claudia and I work together on all these creative projects (she is an architect, while I’m a commercial guy so we complement beautifully). We like to keep our man power small so Fiverr has been a real asset for us. In only three months we were able to successfully launch the @DogsAlliance project – the first Instagram alliance of dogs that support shelters around the world –  (www.dogsalliance.com) by using designers and creatives from Fiverr.

After a big success with @DogsAlliance we are now focused on our most ambitious project so far:  Graphene-X.

For more than a year now we have been working with the development of a revolutionary product based on Graphene, a super material that was only recently discovered. Graphene is 200X stronger than steel, it’s the lightest material on earth, it’s flexible, transparent, impermeable and it comes from one of the most common materials on Earth, Graphite.

It’s launching on October 2019 but you can check out more information on our soft landing web www.graphene-x.com

What inspired your brand/project? What are your goals?

We are always looking for new tech, materials, gadgets, etc. About a year ago we met a company that was experimenting with Graphene and after a couple of meetings we decided to collaborate on a graphene-based product (to be disclosed on the launch of the pre-campaign in the first weeks of August on www.graphene-x.com ). Graphene is yet very expensive to extract (even though it comes from one of the most common materials on Earth which is graphite) so we needed a great traction on this project to make it happen under competitive costs. This is why we decided to launch it on Kickstarter by October of 2019. All this time we have been developing the product and working on the final prototype (which is by the way just finished and it’s just out of this world!).

We believe that Graphene has the potential of changing the world in the coming years and bringing it to the daily life of people will help to ignite this revolution (today there are several industries – like the one of plastics – that look at graphene as a threat, so there is not a big incentive for big corporations to support the research on graphene in order to make it’s extraction cheaper and more functional). By succeeding in our Kickstarter campaign we expect to generate the necessary buzz around Graphene to start this revolution from the market upwards. For this we will need the support of everyone possible so please help us ignite this revolution and join the mail list in www.graphene-x.com! We will even be giving free Graphene socks to anyone that is subscribed to our mailing list if we get our Kickstarter campaign funded!

What prompted you to enter Fiverr Pro x Eli Roth? Please briefly explain your submission.

Eli is a very well recognized figure in Hollywood and has had the luck of working with some of the most talented and creative people in an industry where you can make dreams come true. We thought that his insights could be very useful in order to add the necessary magic to our ideas for this graphene product.

What motivates you? Why do you do what you do?

I’m passionate for innovation and creative ideas. The possibility of connecting with people from around the world in a single click makes the dreams of a better world much more real. I love what I do as it allows me to wake up with a smile every single day of my life. I’m lucky enough to feel like I’m playing at work, so basically I never work while working 24/7.

What are some key takeaways from your one-on-one session with Eli?

Eli’s ideas were key for the video we are filming for our Kickstarter campaign. His vision opened our scope of ideas and we are looking forward to see the final results!

What are some next steps for your project?

We will be launching our pre-campaign in the first weeks of August. This pre-campaign will last for around 2 months and on October 8th we will be launching our project on Kickstarter. You can check more news at www.graphene-x.com.
