6 Tips to Make it Big with Levels

Since Levels were introduced, thousands of our sellers were promoted and gained additional tools to make more money from their skills and talent.

In fact, over a third of all gigs sold on Fiverr today are priced over $5. With these up-selling tools, making a living as a seller is easier than before.

Few weeks after the release of Levels and gazillions of orders later, we analyzed how sellers were using the Levels. We found that some sellers were learning how to actually work less while earning more.

These tips will help you do the same:

1. Gear up, the game is changing
Once you level up, the game changes and it’s time to get serious about your gig business. At this point, you might want to offer bigger services that you wouldn’t sell before for $5.

You might even consider getting yourself better equipment to improve the quality of your gigs.

2. Slice your services to make good use of your time
Your $5 gig is now your entry level service. It should provide great value for your customers, but at the same time leave room for supplementary services that require extra effort and thus additional cost.

The trick is to slice your service wisely. Here are a few examples to show the different ways to use the tools you have:

  • Logo design – entry level could be one sketch for $5. You can then offer additional sketches, edits, color etc. as extras.
  • Content writing/translation – different prices for different amounts of text. Multiples allow users to order your service multiple times at once. We’ve seen sellers actually use their extras to offer discounts for large projects. For example, offering to write half a page of text for $5, while offering to write 2 pages for $15 (instead of $20).

3. Balance your workload using pricing, not delivery time
Before Levels, if you were swamped by orders, the easiest way to manage would be extending the delivery time in order to deliver your gigs on time. You don’t need to do that anymore.

If you’re getting more orders than you can handle, it means that you are in demand and can charge more for your services. Tweak your pricing model until you find a system that works for your gig.

4. Be specific
Explain your pricing model to buyers. If you decided that $5 are worth 30 seconds of a video, explain in your gig’s description that longer videos will require multiple orders.

Being as specific and clear as possible can reduce misunderstandings and increase your sales.

5. Ask your customers what they want
Invest in giving accurate instructions to your customer. In the post-levels era, you have better tools to adjust your gigs and keep your customer happier.

6. Checkout requested gigs
Buyers are often posting their dream gigs on the requested gigs list. For services that require more work than usual, you can use your advanced up-sell tools to provide these services for an appropriate price.
