You’ve Made us Blush – “Thank You Fiverr Support”

Have you ever visited the Fiverr customer support page before? If you have you’ll know that it says:

“Our team is here 25 hours a day, 8 days a week just to keep you smiling and enjoying Fiverr.”

And that’s true, well, true in as much as Reuben & co are relentless in helping you guys continue to have a great experience here on our shiny little piece of the Internet.

So this afternoon when one of our persistent complainers (we say that with love) Madmoo got in touch to say nothing more than thank you for putting up with her and that she wanted to do so in a more public way, it seemed obvious to invite her to write a guest blog post for us. Something, I’m glad the coffee making, spaghetti sprawling, crafty genius was able to do right away.

Madmoo tends to waffle on a bit with her messages, and we should know because there’s been a whopping 71 support tickets assigned to her alone! However, we think this is just perfect the way it is:

“I feel it’s about time I mentioned the thankless task that is Fiverr support. Ok, maybe it’s not thankless all of the time, but I know I have my fair share of moans when things go wrong and don’t always take the time out to show appreciation for what they do.

Earlier today I had a query about one of my new gigs not showing in the searches – I was concerned that I might be losing potential customers because of it and decided to fire off another ticket. As is usually the case, my query ran to more than the one page and covered three issues by the time I’d finished. I’m like that – ask anyone who knows me … [Ed. Yes, we know!]
Anyway, within 5 minutes I had a reply from Max, addressing every point, explaining what he’d done and asking me to report back if it wasn’t fixed. He even asked me if I’d had a nice time on my recent holiday.
We exchanged a few more messages and the problems were fixed or being fixed – all within the space of half an hour.

Thanks Max – I’m keeping you busy today! :)
Haha. It’s always nice to hear from you and I enjoy helping you! :)

I think it’s easy to forget the grief they must have to put up with – the fact that they are working in support means that most of their day must be spent dealing with problems and with people like me who want instant results. I still DO want instant results, but those manning the help desk such as Max (and Ryan, Reuben, Jay, Joel and whoever else I missed) make you feel like you’re not just a number or ‘that moaning woman again’ (and if they feel that way, they manage to hide it very well!)

It’s really nice to know they’re real people and are concerned about how we’re doing.
A group photo would be good – what do you say team? I promise we won’t throw darts at it, like in the recent gig you highlighted on the Facebook page! :)

Thanks again – you put a smile on my face this morning and hopefully I can carry on being busy while you look after the technical side.”

Thank you, Madmoo! It means a great deal. Believe me when I tell you that the support team know you very well here and enjoy the long chats.

If you’re also a Fiverr user reading this and until now have felt a little scared to get in touch with the guys responsible for your happiness, don’t be. They’re just as human as you and I (although I suspect Reuben may be super-human as he manages 20 hour shifts quite frequently). But what matters is that they really do take every single message they receive seriously.

OH, and as for a photo of the team… we’re working on it :-)

Halloween is coming! What are you going to do about it?

Halloween is just around the corner and the fun (and sometime spooky) gigs are here to spice up your holiday.

Where can I find the Halloween section you ask? We’ve hired one of the world’s leading graphic designers to illustrate it for you:

Fiverr Halloween Section

If you are a seller and wish to have your gig(s) included in the Fiverr Halloween Section, all you need to do is add “Halloween” as a tag to your gig and the magic will happen. Amazing!

Becoming a Top Rated Seller

One month ago, one of our featured web experts, Twistedweb123 was promoted on Fiverr to the very sought after Top Rated Seller status. His Gigs on the most part offer practical solutions and much needed criticism for companies or individuals with a presence on the Internet. His main Gig ironically offers to tell buyers what they don’t want to hear by revealing where they went wrong with their website and what can be done to improve it.

Twisted123′s top selling and featured Gig offers buyers an outsider’s insight on improvements that can be made on their website.

After already spending several months as a seller, keeping an impeccable record and having completed many hundreds of sales we felt it would be a great opportunity to catch up with him and see how the experience of making it into the top tier of sellers had been:

Hey Twisted, nice tattoos. (we noticed your other Gig). How’s it going and would you mind having a short conversation with us ?

Hi there, Fiverr! It’s nice to be here in blog format. I read it all the time and have always wanted to be mentioned. It’s funny you should mention my tattoo gig as I’m actually thinking of adding a $20 extra “I will get whatever you want tattooed on me” just to test the full imagination of my fellow Fiverrs. ;-)

When you were made a TRS, was it a surprise? How did it feel?

It was literally like finding out that the numbers on the toaster are not a heat setting, rather a time limited, I was completely shocked. I instantly rang my girlfriend as if I’d just had a big promotion at work (it was past midnight, she was less than thrilled).

How has it affected your sales on Fiverr?

It has been crazy sales wise. I was used to getting 5-10 orders a day, it’s only been a month and I’m already average more than double that.
The option of selling extras and receiving multiple-orders really is the best thing since sliced bread. Seeing orders coming in for more than $5 at first was nerve racking, but it was nothing a good lunar love punch (southern comfort, WKD blue & Apple sourz… Try it seriously) couldn’t get me powering through!

As a source of income, how important is Fiverr now you’re a Top Rated Seller?

To me, when I first joined Fiverr, it was all about the networking opportunities. $5 may be a small fee for a big product, but the opportunity to meet thousands of like minded business people was priceless.
Now, ‘TRS’ has not only increased my networking, but it has also bought on so many opportunities and requests for services I don’t even offer. The increase in my Fiverr income has literally overtaken my usual day job. Each of my gigs is literally like my child, and every time I receive feedback they mature in age and wisdom.

You’ve only been a TRS for a month, but could you tell us how you see your future as a seller on Fiverr?

At the moment, as you mentioned, most of my gigs are business related but I’m a big kid at heart. I really want to start broadening my scope and become more creative. There are so many great categories on Fiverr, I really want to offer a unique service in each and help build this amazing community.

Any final thoughts?

All I can think to say is quick message to my buyers: I love feedback and depend on it to live, please take just a moment to leave some when finishing orders as it really does mean a great deal to me.

Thanks for taking the time out of your busy Fiverr schedule to speak to us. If you’d like to speak with Twistedweb123 and find out what sort of advice he could offer to improve your website, visit his Gig page here.

Hunky Dory, Jackinory

There’s nothing more satisfying to us than hearing about the life changing experiences you guys have had because of Fiverr. Quirky video artist and musician Jackinory recently reached an impressive milestone for any seller and wanted to share it with us:

1,000 dollars

Congratulations on making $1000 on Fiverr, Jackinory!

We were so delighted for him that we asked if he’d do us the honour and write a special blog post so we could share his achievement with everyone. He’s a little odd and certainly has his own style, so keep an open mind when reading ;)

Over to you, Jackinory:

“So currently I’m laying in bed, using my laptop, editing videos and I just checked my earnings, $1012! I’ve done it, I’ve done something that I set out to do and the feeling is fantastic.

I’m going to explain why making a $1000 on Fiverr has been one of the most amazing experiences of my life – apart from the time a friend’s cat jumped at me to give me a cuddle.

I started on Fiverr 11 months ago, originally it was a case of SamCornwell telling me about it, then me thinking “No one will buy a video of him ranting like a turnip”, but If I could eat any type of hat, it would be the worlds biggest Sombrero right now. So I thought if he could do it, then I could too! I started off with some very embarrassing Gigs which got many orders! ‘zero’ to be exact, I’d failed on my first attempt.

A few months later thing’s really took off when my Dad bought me a Motor bike, I had to pay him back ASAP, I hate borrowing money from him and the guilt soon took over. It spurred me on to make a better Gig, thus creating a video service featuring yours truly. A short while after that I was featured by the wonderful Fiverr staff and the real love story started there!

I’m not the biggest seller on Fiverr by a long shot, I usually get about 3/4 gigs a day to keep me occupied so I plough through them when the fellow housemates have gone to sleep land, I find it easier to work at night as I feel I’m more creative (and also half asleep).

To finish this off I’d like to mention that in September this year I won a competition set up by Microsoft in which I had to make a video stating why I wanted a makeover for my student house. I won the competition! The Windows team will be decorating my living room in my student house very soon and giving me some fantastic prizes! If it wasn’t for Fiverr, I wouldn’t of had the confidence to record myself at all, and now look at where it’s going for me. Amongst the prizes is a phone with HD recording capabilites and so a Hi-Def Gig is in the making, I can feel it! – I will make a video so clear and crisp you’ll be able to see the sweat on my forehead for $5!”

Thank You Fiverr.com”

Ahhh…. Stories like this are why we just LOVE what we do!

Jackinory also recently set up a Facebook page so he could keep his fans informed of his progress on the site.

Fiverr Zombie gets a role in TV commercial

You all remember Kristylynn’s terrifying zombie Gig on Fiverr don’t you?

Well, immediately after setting it up, Kristylynn started getting all kinds of compliments for her acting, scariness and makeup efforts. It didn’t stop there either! Somehow she managed to find herself being accepted into the cast of a brand new game trailer that was being filmed the next day in California! See what happens if you put a lot of effort into your Fiverr Gigs?

Kistylynn’s handbag and the set

I’m not a game player myself but I hear Dead Rising 2: Uranus Zone (I’m sure I’ve titled that wrong, feel free to correct me) is going to be a hit! Check out the finished trailer below with our very own Kristylynn taking a starring zombie role. We’ve included a screenshot so you know who to look out for.

All makeup was done herself and is exactly the same used in her Fiverr zombie Gig. We think it’s absolutely incredible and love it when we see members of the Fiverr community putting extraordinary amounts of effort into their Gigs like this. Finding that occasionally one of you can break out and hit the big time is heart warming to all of us. Remember the Sarah Sunshine story?

Oh, and of course, we shouldn’t forget… the trailer:

How to Marry a Cat… on Fiverr.

I really don’t know where to start with this, so the beginning might be a good place.

Have you ever wanted to marry your pet? (See, this feels like it’s going in the wrong direction already.) Well, long term Fiverr user Haleylujah wanted just that; to marry her cute little cat George Constanza and declare her declaration of love to her pretty little feline friend.

Well, that’s at least what Haleylujah wanted after finding this very eccentric Fiverr Gig on offer by ilovekittens:

Now, it would be a mighty shame not to have a record of such a beautiful occasion. Every wedding has a photographer, sometimes even a videographer. The marriage of Haleylujah and Mr Constanza is no different at all!

The tech savvy bride, (that’s Haleylujah in case you were unsure which one was which) took it upon herself to record the entire ceremony so the happy pair would be able to treasure it forever. Not only that, it was uploaded to Youtube so the entire world could have access to this joyous occasion!

Have a look at the Youtube video below to watch events unfold. The ‘ordained vicar’ asks questions like “do you promise to feed your cat, play with your cat and hug your cat every day?” as George appears to be getting cold feet. We’re delighted to hear though, that the pair are still happily cat and wife.

Sadly, ilovekittens has since suspended her cat marriage Gig, but not to worry, you’ll still find loads of other fun ideas on her Fiverr page!

Isn’t the Fiverr community just GREAT? There’s very few other places on the Internet (if any) that can inspire this kind of bizarre hilarity ! If you’ve got a story to share like this, we’d love to hear from you in the comments below…

Until next time, happy Gigging guys!

BaronBob Celebrates 100 Fiverr video purchases

This is what we like to hear: Two Fiverr users, one a buyer, the other a seller striking up a formidable trading relationship in our neat little corner of the Internet (We know it’s not a corner, we just liked the phrase).

It was some time back in April 2011 that Fiverr user BaronBob discovered our very own veteran video starlet Samcornwell and his high-quality video Gigs.

This week Samcornwell will be delivering his 100th personalised video to Baronbob, a milestone to say the least. It’s wonderful to hear that users are connecting in such a successful way on Fiverr, achieving real partnerships and trading relationships. Congratulations to the both of them!

We spoke to the formidable force of the “wackiest gift gallery on the web” and he was kind enough to share a few thoughts with us…

Hey, Baronbob, thanks for agreeing to talk to us about your experiences with Fiverr. We’ve heard from Fiverr user Samcornwell that you and him have had a landmark sale. 100 videos purchased by your site Baronbob.com! Congratulations!
I’m not worthy!

Firstly, what do you do and why do you need the services on Fiverr?
“I have owned and operated BaronBob.com – possibly the world’s wackiest gift gallery since 1998. The services of Fiverr.com are really an excellent and affordable way of getting fun-tastic content for my website.”

How many Fiverr sellers did you try before realising you wanted Samcornwell to represent your company?
“I had ordered only a few Fiverr gigs and then I viewed Sam’s 1st video he did for me, I almost fell out of my wacky warehouse with laughter. I knew at that very moment I wanted Sam to be our spokes guy. Now with 100 videos I can sum up Sam Cornwell in one word, GUTS – (genius, ultimate, terrific, savvy) (okay, I can’t count). Simply said, “Sam is my go to guy for greatness!”

What’s your favourite purchase from Fiverr.com?
“All of Sam’s videos he has done for me are of an excellence. Sam has GREAT directing, comedic timing, character acting, and editing skills. Three of my favorite videos that come to mind are all from Samcornwell…”

Remote Controlled Rat Video
Sam walks into the camera frame playing a flute and asks, “Do you know who I am?” Watch the video for the answer.

Fanny Floss Video
Sam has some real cheeky fun explaining this item! Watch the video for some priceless, simulated, sound effects.

Toilet Monster Video
Sam is at his best as he explains this incredible prank. CAUTION: Before viewing, if you’re sipping a large glass of wine please put it down on the table.

“I think the whole concept of Fiverr.com is freakin’ brilliant. It’s really a great platform – no actually a spring board for the unsung talent to be recognized and compensated. Not to mention the economy woos of the world, the service can really make a difference. I’ll never forget a fan of my Facebook Wall that expressed how she really loved an item; I told her it’s now available for sale. She told me unfortunately juice in her household is a luxury. I sent the item to her for free. It’s tough out there and I think Fiverr should be commended for such a super ease of entry – showcasing talent – affordable – killer sales channel! GO FIVERR.COM!!”

To see more of Samcornwell’s absolutely ridiculous renditions of other Baronbob products you can view them here.

Are you a buyer or seller on Fiverr and have you found a user that you can trust, rely and depend on for all your needs? If so we’d love to hear from you. Just drop us a line below in the comments.
