Making money online can be very impersonal. One of the advantages of Fiverr® is the fact that you can add a video and personalize your Gig®. This not only helps you draw attention to your Gig but has proven to increase sales by more than 200 percent. No matter the type of service you might offer a video helps you connect with your buyers, show off your work and convert your Gig visitors into buyers. Don't worry, you don't need to be a professional videographer to create a high quality video. Here are five tips that can help you make a high quality video with a webcam or smartphone.

Go for the highest resolution you can

Many of today's cameras let you choose the resolution, if you can, select the highest available resolution. You may also want to check your phone, you may find that it films in a higher resolution than your webcam. If you do use your smartphone for your video, remember that filming should be taken when the the phone is horizontal.

Natural is better

Lighting is essential for a good video. Using natural light is better than a brightly lit room. If you're indoors open the curtains to let the light in. When you're outside avoid direct sunlight. Balance is crucial. With too much light, you'll be washed out and unclear. With too little light, the video can come out dark and blurry. It’s best to do a few takes and choose the one that works for you.

Keep it steady

If you are using a handheld camera or a smartphone, you want to make sure to get it to be as still as possible when filming. You can ask someone to help you film it, or try to set it on a stand, or set up on a steady flat surface.

Be aware of your surroundings

When filming, you'll want to eliminate distractions, all attention should be on you. Check that there are no additional noises for the microphone to pick up. Also, you want to be sure that you film in front of an appropriate background. You may want a clean look, stand in front of a solid, light colored wall. For a more natural "at work" look, shoot at your desk or in your studio.

Short is good

Think of your video as an elevator pitch about yourself and your service. The video should be long enough to get across the value in your offering, but short enough so they don't get bored. With all the effort that you put into your explainer video, you want to make sure your buyer will see it to the end. What's your favorite Fiverr Gig Video?
