Subcategories are coming!

Listen good ’cause you’re gonna love this:

In the coming days we will be introducing two new awesome features: subcategories and category search. This means that the existing categories will have a much better structure. For buyers – you will find the services you are interested in a lot quicker and easier. For sellers – you will be able to list your gigs in a much more relevant classification instead of just broad categories.

The new search will support the ability to search the entire site, a specific category or a subcategory. This will improve the user experience significantly.

So, if you are a seller, here’s how it works:
Go to your ‘My Gigs’ page and edit each of your gigs to assign them in the right subcategory. For example; put your logo design gig in the subcategory ‘Logo Design’ under the category ‘Graphics’.
We recommend that you do this as soon as possible because we will be opening the subcategories feature in a matter of days.

“Yeah, but what if I don’t…?” you ask. Well, your gigs will still be there, but they will only appear if someone clicked on the parent category. Your gigs will also have a much lower rank in search results and will not appear when buyers search in subcategories. In other words, not assigning your gigs to the right subcategory will hurt your chances of being found by potential buyers.
So what are you waiting for? Get ready to see your gigs thrive.

Happy gigging

Increase Your Sales by 60%

Jerry Maguire famously said, “Show me the money!” We are working hard to help you do just that!

Fiverr sellers are creating new Gigs every day. With close to a million Gigs already up, you’re probably asking yourself – “What can I do to stand out from the crowd?” and “How can I attract more buyers and make more money with Fiverr?”

We are always offering tips to our sellers on the blog – like making it big with levels, using collections to your benefit and how to create a damn cool Gig video. But there’s another way…

Some of you may have already heard about the Fiverr Sellers Group on LinkedIn. This is the place for the seller community to come together and share their experiences.

In this group you’ll find both new and experienced sellers who are looking to grow their Fiverr business. They help each other by sharing tips and ideas to promote their Gigs and improve sales. They also get advice on working with difficult buyers. Some of our active members have also been promoted to Top Rated Seller since joining the group.

If that isn’t enough, every Tuesday the Fiverr team post answers to
popular questions like:
How can I get my gigs featured?
How do I become a top rated seller?
What if I don’t have the skills to create a high quality video?

If you want to ask advice, share an experience or get constructive criticism on your Gig, now is your opportunity. Applying tips from the LinkedIn group can really help you get more sales. This isn’t an assumption! We did an analysis and found that group members sell almost 60% more than sellers who are not in the group!

Let us help ‘show you the money’! Check out our community on LinkedIn to see what it’s all about.

6 Tips to Make it Big with Levels

Since Levels were introduced, thousands of our sellers were promoted and gained additional tools to make more money from their skills and talent.

In fact, over a third of all gigs sold on Fiverr today are priced over $5. With these up-selling tools, making a living as a seller is easier than before.

Few weeks after the release of Levels and gazillions of orders later, we analyzed how sellers were using the Levels. We found that some sellers were learning how to actually work less while earning more.

These tips will help you do the same:

1. Gear up, the game is changing
Once you level up, the game changes and it’s time to get serious about your gig business. At this point, you might want to offer bigger services that you wouldn’t sell before for $5.

You might even consider getting yourself better equipment to improve the quality of your gigs.

2. Slice your services to make good use of your time
Your $5 gig is now your entry level service. It should provide great value for your customers, but at the same time leave room for supplementary services that require extra effort and thus additional cost.

The trick is to slice your service wisely. Here are a few examples to show the different ways to use the tools you have:

  • Logo design – entry level could be one sketch for $5. You can then offer additional sketches, edits, color etc. as extras.
  • Content writing/translation – different prices for different amounts of text. Multiples allow users to order your service multiple times at once. We’ve seen sellers actually use their extras to offer discounts for large projects. For example, offering to write half a page of text for $5, while offering to write 2 pages for $15 (instead of $20).

3. Balance your workload using pricing, not delivery time
Before Levels, if you were swamped by orders, the easiest way to manage would be extending the delivery time in order to deliver your gigs on time. You don’t need to do that anymore.

If you’re getting more orders than you can handle, it means that you are in demand and can charge more for your services. Tweak your pricing model until you find a system that works for your gig.

4. Be specific
Explain your pricing model to buyers. If you decided that $5 are worth 30 seconds of a video, explain in your gig’s description that longer videos will require multiple orders.

Being as specific and clear as possible can reduce misunderstandings and increase your sales.

5. Ask your customers what they want
Invest in giving accurate instructions to your customer. In the post-levels era, you have better tools to adjust your gigs and keep your customer happier.

6. Checkout requested gigs
Buyers are often posting their dream gigs on the requested gigs list. For services that require more work than usual, you can use your advanced up-sell tools to provide these services for an appropriate price.

Tips to Buy Sell and Have Fun with Collections

We love seeing all the amazing collections that you’ve created!

Some collections, showcase the gigs you like, bought and recommend. Other collection are a collaboration of sellers who offer complementing gigs, forming useful service packages.

Awesome!!

You may not know this, but our Editors are always on the lookout for collections to follow. When they follow your collection, it will significantly boost your collection’s popularity and lead to more exposure.

Here are some tips that will help your collection get attention from the Editors and people searching on the site.

Eye Catching Titles, Descriptions and Relevant Tags

Your title and description should clearly describe the gigs in your collection. It should also entice searchers to click on, and check out your collection.

Tags must be relevant to your collection topic. When you have many related keyword tags, it will help your collection get exposure when people search for the services you offer.

Establish Credibility and Become a Community Leader!

When your collections are known as a reliable source to find quality gigs, you’ll earn trust and follows. This will increase your collection’s popularity and give you more exposure.

Be supportive to other community members by following the collections you like. You’ll discover some new services and sellers this way!

For sellers, collections are a great collaboration tool. You can join forces with other sellers who offer related services to create packages – like a one stop shop for buyers looking for related services.

For example, If you’re a logo designer, you can collaborate with other sellers offering web design, office stationery, personal branding, etc.

If you don’t know how to begin, check out this discussion in the Fiverr seller’s group on LinkedIn.

Things to Avoid

  • Don’t spamify your collection by only adding your own gigs.
  • Don’t duplicate existing collections. It’s not friendly, very time consuming and will be considered spam.
  • Make a collection with only a few gigs.

Did I say “Exclusive to Fiverr” already?

Now this is the sort of promotion we like to see on a Fiverr Gig. Long time user Phalbo, who specialises in speed drawing and logos, created this awesome video presentation for his latest Gig.

Click the pic to view some pure awesomeness.

What we love about Phalbo’s video:

  • It’s clear and easy to understand.
  • It shows you what Extras are on offer.
  • It’s upbeat, quick and fun.
  • It mentions exclusivity to Fiverr.
  • It credits the user who kindly performed the voiceover.

Do any of your Gigs Haz Video yet? A well thought out presentation can really benefit your Gig, helping to explain the services you offer and ultimately bring in more sales!

We also hear that it’s Phalbo’s first anniversary as a seller on Fiverr this week. Congratulations, and here’s to another year!

Happy Gigging, Fiverrs!

How to say “Thank you” on Fiverr

The leaves have all but fallen off the trees, it’s getting very cold out, the holiday season has just begun and that can only mean one thing: Thanksgiving is here!  While all the cooks are busy in our kitchens preparing a feast and the rest of you are playing board games and watching awful re-runs on the television, we wanted to take a moment to thank all of you, our Fiverr users for being such great stars!

Being nice and treating others with kindness goes a long way especially on Fiverr. So here’s 5 top tips on how to say ‘Thank you’ to users that you connect with:

5. Leave feedback. Make sure the buyer or seller knows they’re appreciated. It’s a great public way to say “thank you”:

4. Whether you’re a buyer or a seller, follow up on the Gig after it’s been delivered. It’s great to hear what your hard work has been used for and if indeed it’s working!

3. If what you’ve received was extra awesome then why not order the Gig again for a friend? You could even buy another one of the services they offer by visiting their profile page. You’ll never know how much it’ll make their day!

2. Try and deliver a little more than what you’re offering in your Gig. Everyone knows it’s more fun to give than receive!

1. When a seller really goes out of their way, making a great Gig for you, thank them by sharing their Gig with your friends using the social media ‘share’ buttons.

Thank you, from all the staff at Fiverr HQ. We wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving. Try not to eat too much turkey & have a fun day shopping tomorrow!

Happy Gigging.
