Gigs

Did I say “Exclusive to Fiverr” already?

Now this is the sort of promotion we like to see on a Fiverr Gig. Long time user Phalbo, who specialises in speed drawing and logos, created this awesome video presentation for his latest Gig.

Click the pic to view some pure awesomeness.

What we love about Phalbo’s video:

  • It’s clear and easy to understand.
  • It shows you what Extras are on offer.
  • It’s upbeat, quick and fun.
  • It mentions exclusivity to Fiverr.
  • It credits the user who kindly performed the voiceover.

Do any of your Gigs Haz Video yet? A well thought out presentation can really benefit your Gig, helping to explain the services you offer and ultimately bring in more sales!

We also hear that it’s Phalbo’s first anniversary as a seller on Fiverr this week. Congratulations, and here’s to another year!

Happy Gigging, Fiverrs!

The Fiverr Community can do that for you!

How does one show spirit within the community? User Forgetaboutit has the right idea on their radio commercial Gig, by encouraging the use of other services available on Fiverr.

A quick read of their Gig description reveals a bonus extra if you use a Fiverr voice over artist to create the commercial that will be played:

“We will DOUBLE your FIRST order if you use a Fiverr voice over professional to record your spot.” – Nice.

We think that this shows great community enterprise and can’t wait to see other examples of the same. Have you ever bought several Fiverr Gigs in the aim of one goal? Perhaps created a video using several Gigs or helped start your business with the aid of Fiverr sellers. We’d love to hear from you!

Fiverr User Jerseyferretti Makes Headlines with Christopher Walken Impression.

Have you ever been told you look like someone?

How about, have you ever been told you sound like someone?

Perhaps, at parties you like to crack out an impression of a famous celebrity.

Well that’s exactly what Fiverr user Jerseyferretti does. What’s more, he earns very well from doing so.

Jerseyferretti recently appeared in a news story in the Jersey Journal that highlights his successes on Fiverr:

Chris doesn’t look like Chris but he certainly sounds like Chris

Jerseyferretti, real name Chris Ferratti, actually impersonates another Chris – that being Christopher Walken. He does a damn fine job of it too. He uploaded this video to his Youtube channel which demonstrates just how awesome he is. Be careful though, the language used in the video isn’t appropriate for little people and is certainly NSFW (mostly).

Jerseyferretti, we wish you continued success on Fiverr.

This is the type of media attention we love to see. We want YOU to get more exposure for the hard work that you’re doing! If you’ve got a great Gig or Fiverr story to share with us then please leave us a comment below. It would be awesome to hear from you.

Happy Gigging guys.

Becoming a Top Rated Seller

One month ago, one of our featured web experts, Twistedweb123 was promoted on Fiverr to the very sought after Top Rated Seller status. His Gigs on the most part offer practical solutions and much needed criticism for companies or individuals with a presence on the Internet. His main Gig ironically offers to tell buyers what they don’t want to hear by revealing where they went wrong with their website and what can be done to improve it.

Twisted123′s top selling and featured Gig offers buyers an outsider’s insight on improvements that can be made on their website.

After already spending several months as a seller, keeping an impeccable record and having completed many hundreds of sales we felt it would be a great opportunity to catch up with him and see how the experience of making it into the top tier of sellers had been:

Hey Twisted, nice tattoos. (we noticed your other Gig). How’s it going and would you mind having a short conversation with us ?

Hi there, Fiverr! It’s nice to be here in blog format. I read it all the time and have always wanted to be mentioned. It’s funny you should mention my tattoo gig as I’m actually thinking of adding a $20 extra “I will get whatever you want tattooed on me” just to test the full imagination of my fellow Fiverrs. ;-)

When you were made a TRS, was it a surprise? How did it feel?

It was literally like finding out that the numbers on the toaster are not a heat setting, rather a time limited, I was completely shocked. I instantly rang my girlfriend as if I’d just had a big promotion at work (it was past midnight, she was less than thrilled).

How has it affected your sales on Fiverr?

It has been crazy sales wise. I was used to getting 5-10 orders a day, it’s only been a month and I’m already average more than double that.
The option of selling extras and receiving multiple-orders really is the best thing since sliced bread. Seeing orders coming in for more than $5 at first was nerve racking, but it was nothing a good lunar love punch (southern comfort, WKD blue & Apple sourz… Try it seriously) couldn’t get me powering through!

As a source of income, how important is Fiverr now you’re a Top Rated Seller?

To me, when I first joined Fiverr, it was all about the networking opportunities. $5 may be a small fee for a big product, but the opportunity to meet thousands of like minded business people was priceless.
Now, ‘TRS’ has not only increased my networking, but it has also bought on so many opportunities and requests for services I don’t even offer. The increase in my Fiverr income has literally overtaken my usual day job. Each of my gigs is literally like my child, and every time I receive feedback they mature in age and wisdom.

You’ve only been a TRS for a month, but could you tell us how you see your future as a seller on Fiverr?

At the moment, as you mentioned, most of my gigs are business related but I’m a big kid at heart. I really want to start broadening my scope and become more creative. There are so many great categories on Fiverr, I really want to offer a unique service in each and help build this amazing community.

Any final thoughts?

All I can think to say is quick message to my buyers: I love feedback and depend on it to live, please take just a moment to leave some when finishing orders as it really does mean a great deal to me.

Thanks for taking the time out of your busy Fiverr schedule to speak to us. If you’d like to speak with Twistedweb123 and find out what sort of advice he could offer to improve your website, visit his Gig page here.

BaronBob Celebrates 100 Fiverr video purchases

This is what we like to hear: Two Fiverr users, one a buyer, the other a seller striking up a formidable trading relationship in our neat little corner of the Internet (We know it’s not a corner, we just liked the phrase).

It was some time back in April 2011 that Fiverr user BaronBob discovered our very own veteran video starlet Samcornwell and his high-quality video Gigs.

This week Samcornwell will be delivering his 100th personalised video to Baronbob, a milestone to say the least. It’s wonderful to hear that users are connecting in such a successful way on Fiverr, achieving real partnerships and trading relationships. Congratulations to the both of them!

We spoke to the formidable force of the “wackiest gift gallery on the web” and he was kind enough to share a few thoughts with us…

Hey, Baronbob, thanks for agreeing to talk to us about your experiences with Fiverr. We’ve heard from Fiverr user Samcornwell that you and him have had a landmark sale. 100 videos purchased by your site Baronbob.com! Congratulations!
I’m not worthy!

Firstly, what do you do and why do you need the services on Fiverr?
“I have owned and operated BaronBob.com – possibly the world’s wackiest gift gallery since 1998. The services of Fiverr.com are really an excellent and affordable way of getting fun-tastic content for my website.”

How many Fiverr sellers did you try before realising you wanted Samcornwell to represent your company?
“I had ordered only a few Fiverr gigs and then I viewed Sam’s 1st video he did for me, I almost fell out of my wacky warehouse with laughter. I knew at that very moment I wanted Sam to be our spokes guy. Now with 100 videos I can sum up Sam Cornwell in one word, GUTS – (genius, ultimate, terrific, savvy) (okay, I can’t count). Simply said, “Sam is my go to guy for greatness!”

What’s your favourite purchase from Fiverr.com?
“All of Sam’s videos he has done for me are of an excellence. Sam has GREAT directing, comedic timing, character acting, and editing skills. Three of my favorite videos that come to mind are all from Samcornwell…”

Remote Controlled Rat Video
Sam walks into the camera frame playing a flute and asks, “Do you know who I am?” Watch the video for the answer.

Fanny Floss Video
Sam has some real cheeky fun explaining this item! Watch the video for some priceless, simulated, sound effects.

Toilet Monster Video
Sam is at his best as he explains this incredible prank. CAUTION: Before viewing, if you’re sipping a large glass of wine please put it down on the table.

“I think the whole concept of Fiverr.com is freakin’ brilliant. It’s really a great platform – no actually a spring board for the unsung talent to be recognized and compensated. Not to mention the economy woos of the world, the service can really make a difference. I’ll never forget a fan of my Facebook Wall that expressed how she really loved an item; I told her it’s now available for sale. She told me unfortunately juice in her household is a luxury. I sent the item to her for free. It’s tough out there and I think Fiverr should be commended for such a super ease of entry – showcasing talent – affordable – killer sales channel! GO FIVERR.COM!!”

To see more of Samcornwell’s absolutely ridiculous renditions of other Baronbob products you can view them here.

Are you a buyer or seller on Fiverr and have you found a user that you can trust, rely and depend on for all your needs? If so we’d love to hear from you. Just drop us a line below in the comments.

Fiverr: The Final Frontier.

Remember the other day when the Internet was a-buzz with the word that a decommissioned UARS NASA satellite was due to break up and fall back to Earth? Scary odds of 3200/1 were being quoted as the chance of some of the broken up debris would actually land on a human. Thankfully though, after much speculation it landed safely in the middle of the Pacific ocean last Friday evening, probably doing no worse than giving a dolphin a bit of a headache.

Well, that got me thinking. I’m into all things to do with Space and my inner-nerd started searching for something I’d recently seen on Fiverr. I recall a Gig which offered a part of an old NASA Space shuttle that had flown to the Moon and back. Sure enough on page three there it was:

Click on the image to visit the gig page.

At first I was disappointed not to see a video on the gig page. I always like to see the seller before making a purchase however, the description was very technical and user unusual had a 100% feedback rating. I checked the shipping options and was happy to pay an extra $4 on top of the Fiverr to get my little piece of Space history.

It’s worth noting that I needed an excuse to purchase this. I’m known to be pretty tight when it comes to buying things so I decided that this could be a birthday present for my girlfriend. “Here, love. It’s a minuscule piece of space shuttle – happy birthday.

Two days later and it arrived. Pretty quick considering that it came from France. Without hesitation I opened it immediately and exactly as described, there it was. My own little piece of Space shuttle that had been all the way to the Moon and back. It really is small too, I mean, really, REALLY small:

Tiny, but magical!

You know what though? Size really doesn’t matter. I was holding a piece of a real NASA Space history in my hands! Unusual had gone to the trouble of packaging it extremely carefully within several see-through plastic wallets and finally enclosing it between two clear slides. I’m probably going a bit too far with this now, but it was really quite moving to have something from SPACE with such an incredible history in my posession. I wanted to know more as I’m sure you do, so I got in touch with the seller to thank him.

Fiverr user Unusual, aka Gédéon was very accommodating and spent time answering all my questions.

[Where did the foil come from?] I am a collector of things that have flown into space, especially during the Apollo program. The piece of foil you see in the picture was obtained through Rick Boos, a very well respected space historian and friend of Neil Armstrong’s mother. The pieces of foil were the remnants of foil used by Mr. Boos to make presentations. Since they were already too small to make an attractive presentation, I thought I would cut them into about a hundred specks so that many people could own something that went to the Moon and back for just a few dollars. The specks are extremely tiny but they’re the cheapest space-flown artefacts ever sold.

WOW, that is a statement. The cheapest space-flown artefacts ever sold. Certainly not a bad catch on Fiverr!

Here’s a picture of the lunar module in space:

See the shiny silverish surface? That is where your foil comes from. The foil has two sides, one grey, one gold. The grey side was facing outwards on the Command Module.

As you surely know, a tank exploded on Apollo 13′s way to the Moon.
[I didn't actually know this] The Lunar Module never landed on the surface of the Moon, however, the Command and Service Module orbitted the Moon to use its gravity as a slingshot so that they could return to the Earth before the supplies needed to stay alive would be depleted. [Oh yeah, I remember from that Tom Hanks movie!]

On the recovery pictures, you see mostly gold. That’s because most of the foil was removed by the violence of the re-entry in Earth’s atmosphere. Here is a picture of the Apollo 13 Command Module after splashdown.

Your piece of foil could be visible on this picture.

[I have to chip in quickly. This is so incredible to read. Am I alone here? Do I sound like a complete nerd? I mean LOOK AT THAT PICTURE! My tiny piece of foil has travelled to the dark side of the Moon ferkrissakes!]

[Tell me more. Tell me more!]The pieces of foil that I have were remnants of a big piece of foil used to make a presentation. I am usually not a fan of cutting flown artefacts, but since the pieces I decided to cut were already leftovers, I thought I would not commit a sacrilege if I decided to cut it into specks.

I thought that it would be neat to let as many people as possible own something of such historical significance for just a few dollars. Holding something that has flown in space -especially during one of the Apollo missions- is still very moving for me, even after years of collecting and nothing makes me happier than sharing this thrill. [How cool is this guy, huh?]

I don’t really know exactly how many fragments I have left, I do not cut them in advance. Perhaps 50. Perhaps a bit more. 100 at the very most. After that, I am done, this was the only foil that I was willing to cut into smaller parts.[So, people better start ordering quick if they want a slice of this Apollo pie!]

I heard about Fiverr and fell in love with the concept. I wanted to be part of it. I quickly realized that I would not make much money with my foil, but I thought it would be cool to share one of my passions with as many people as possible.

Five years ago, I would have gone nuts if someone told me that I could buy a piece of an Apollo spacecraft for less than the price of a cheeseburger.

Thank you Gédéon for sharing this with us. I’d like to let you know that my girlfriend turned out to be just as thrilled as I had hoped to receive her little bit of Space. I sincerely hope that many other people out there who dream about Space will take advantage of your offer. I have seen my fair share of incredible Gigs on Fiverr and this is certainly up there with the best of them.

That’s one small Gig for Fiverr, one giant blog-post for Fiverr kind. (Sorry, had to).

Do you feel Lucky, Punk?

Somebody at LuckyRentals.co.nz does!

You’re challenged to do crazy stuff in the name of LuckyRentals.
If you want in, go ahead and post your gig in the comments. Do show and tell what’s so crazy about it. You might be the ~lucky~ one to get picked for their blog.

That’s what Nathan, Lucky’s CEO, told us; “… Lucky was looking for a bold and cheeky new way to market his Campervan Company. He’d heard about fiverr.com, checked it out – and saw a winner.“

Starting July 2011, Lucky kicked off the 100-day fiverr challenge. Every day, same time, same place, Nathan orders two new gigs that are randomly chosen and posted every weekday morning at 9am.

That’s how Lucky describes itself: “… is a company for backpackers, a community of travelers from around the world looking to explore New Zealand. So what better way to promote this community than by tapping into another?”

About 30 gigs were already chosen, so there are 70 more to go! :-)
Here are some of the already published ones:

Happy Father’s Day!

Fiverr wishes all fathers out there a Happy Father’s Day!

We would like to start off with a beautiful quote to all fathers out there from L. Rockefeller:

“Father taught us that opportunity and responsibility go hand in hand. I think we all act on that principle; on the basic human impulse that makes a man want to make the best of what’s in him and what’s been given him.”

We think Rockefeller hit the nail on the head. Some members of our community were so kind sharing their ‘father’s day’ gifts with us and as we know you are probably busy with the usual grind of life, so we thought it would be a good idea to share it with you.  These are nice ideas of how to show appreciation to Dads.

We are wondering how the Dads of the world were surprised by their loved ones…
Mind sharing how he reacted? ;-)
