Fiverr's doers have expertise and talents that can help you create, build, and grow your business. As you expand, you'll want to return to the site, and to the sellers you trust, again and again. Every marketplace has its own etiquette, so read on to learn how to create great relationships with Fiverr sellers and make every transaction an awesome experience for both parties.
5 Ways To Build Lasting Relationships With Freelancers ... and Get The Project You Want
1. Be specific and detailed.
Consider a situation where your business needs a professional logo design. After researching your options on Fiverr, you've chosen the artist with the reviews, examples, and services you think are right for you. So how do you proceed? Since this artist is a professional, all you need to tell them is your business name and industry, and let their creative vision do the rest – right? Actually, this approach could end in frustration for both you and the artist if you can't agree on the end result.
"The goal is to provide inspiring information that moves people to action" - Guy Kawasaki)
Give your seller specific guidance. In the case of a logo, you probably have some idea about whether you'd like something vintage or contemporary, serene or powerful. If there are any images or phrases you know you want included, pass that onto the artist at the very beginning. You should also help them understand your business and image so that they get your vision and goals on the first attempt – and avoid time-consuming, potentially costly changes.
2. Respect prices and deadlines.
You've found the Fiverr artist with the perfect style for your logo, and now you know how to communicate your needs. But the posted price is a bit more than you were hoping. Or the deadline is a little longer than you'd like to wait. Maybe they can make an exception for you? Fiverr doers already offer competitive prices and fast turnaround, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Send the artist a private message with a clear explanation of what you're looking for. They have the option to create a custom offer to better suit your needs. Respect their time and talent, and understand that their offer is a fair judgment of their worth. If you continue to disagree, don't argue. See if another talented doer can deliver what you're asking for.
3. Address questions or concerns.
First, do a little research to make sure your question can't be answered by the information already available to you. Review the seller's profile, the specifications of the gig, and above all don't forget to look into the "Frequently Asked Questions" section of the Gig itself. If you still have a concern, then message the seller right away. The sooner you can both work it out, the sooner the project can proceed without eating into the deadline. Catching a mistake quickly can also prevent the need for changes and revisions.
4. To tip, or not to tip?
Tipping is always appreciated if you're happy with a Fiverr doer's work. But it's an especially good idea if the doer has gone above and beyond. For example, the logo turned out great and it's exactly what you wanted. But at the last minute, you decided you want the color to be gold, rather than bright yellow, and the artist was willing to fix the color right away. You can leave a tip to show your appreciation and if even you don't do so, it's always a good idea to personally thank them in a private message for lending their special talent to your business.
5. How to write a review.
Reviews are important to Fiverr sellers. They help show a potential buyer what to expect, from the perspective of a fellow entrepreneur. Glowing five-star reviews reflect well on a seller, but honesty is far more valuable. It helps them learn how buyers feel about their process, and it assists potential buyers in making an informed decision. Graphic designer Esteban Oliva, "estediablo" on Fiverr When posting a positive review, state at least one specific thing you really liked about that seller's work. If you appreciated the price, the value, the turnaround time, or a specific idea they added to your project, make it known to the seller and the potential buyers.
